Case Study

Klaus Meier - From actor to media spokesperson

Initial situation

Klaus Meier (name changed), a trained actor, has decided to expand his portfolio and work as a media spokesperson in the future. In order to establish himself in this new field, he wants to optimize his voice and pronunciation, get to know different genres of media speaking and create professional audio files in order to subsequently generate jobs with a good acquisition.

Goals of the coaching:

voice training

improving vocal strength, clarity and modulation.

pronunciation

fine-tuning of articulation and speech melody, especially for media speaking

genres of media speaking

getting to know and practicing different styles such as advertising, image film, voice over, off-commentary and audio books.

professional audio files

creation of high-quality demo files for acquisition.

acquisition consulting

getting to know the speaker-specific application options

My recommendation:

To get started, I recommend the basic coaching package of 12 individual sessions (60 min), which are arranged every two weeks. This gives you the opportunity to practise in the meantime. The experience can then be supplemented with further individual sessions or with the Coaching-Advanced package.

Coaching can take place on-site at the Vocal Acting Studio in Munich or online.

It is also possible to conduct the coaching in English.

I would be happy to provide you with an individual offer that optimally reflects your personal wishes.

Methodology

Diagnosis and goal setting

In the first session, we took stock of Klaus' current voice and speaking skills and listened to existing audio recordings. We did a short live reading with texts from media speaking. We then defined clear goals for the coaching.

voice training

We started with breathing and voice exercises to strengthen the basics. Diaphragmatic breathing exercises and resonance chamber activation helped Klaus to project his voice powerfully and clearly. We also worked on modulating his voice to master different emotional nuances and accents.

pronunciation

For precise and clear articulation, we carried out vowel and consonant exercises. Special attention was paid to neutralizing regional accents to ensure versatility.

Speech design

In speech design, we worked out which skills can be used to make the idea of the text audible and bring it to the fore, and what significance is attached to the exact pairs of opposites high-low, loud-quiet, slow-fast in the design.

Genres of media speaking

The focus is on a clear, approachable voice that is

  • Advertising and image film: practicing dynamic and sales-oriented texts with different emotional approaches.
  • Voice over and off-commentary: Quick grasp of situations, good text overview,
  • Audiobooks: development of character voices and narrative voice. Skills for preparing audiobooks for audio recording

Creating audio files

After the intensive practice phase, we moved on to creating professional audio files. We recorded various audio files in a professional recording studio. These included short segments from different genres to demonstrate Klaus' versatility.

Results

After several weeks of intensive coaching, Klaus showed considerable progress. His voice was now powerful and capable of modulation, his pronunciation clear and precise. He had mastered the different styles of media speaking and was able to use them confidently and convincingly. The professional audio files served him as an effective tool for acquiring new contracts.

Conclusion

Thanks to the targeted voice and speech training, Klaus Meier was able to expand his skills and successfully position himself as a media spokesperson alongside his work as a freelance actor. With the professional audio files, he now had the opportunity to apply to recording studios, agencies or voice-over platforms and advance his career in this new field.
